What is a Smart Edit?

A Smart Edit is an AI-powered feature that automates edit requests to your WordPress site

Updated over 3 months ago

Overview

A Smart Edit is an AI-powered feature in Miruni that analyzes website change requests and automatically suggests precise modifications to your WordPress site. It's designed to drastically reduce the time and effort required to implement website updates while maintaining brand consistency. Smart Edits relies on a WordPress plugin and a WordPress site to work its magic.

Page Builder Compatibility

Smart Edits currently supports both Elementor and Gutenberg page editors, with additional page builder support in development. This ensures edits are compatible with your existing site setup and can be applied reliably across the most popular WordPress environments.

How Smart Edits Work

Smart Edits use artificial intelligence to:

  1. Analyze requests - Process change requests from various formats including screenshots, text descriptions, and client feedback

  2. Understand context - Examine the entire webpage to understand both what needs changing and how it fits with existing content

  3. Generate suggestions - Create specific edit recommendations that can be implemented with a single click

  4. Maintain control - All suggestions require your approval before being applied

Types of Smart Edits

Smart Edits can handle a wide variety of website changes:

  • Text Updates - Content changes, typo corrections, and text replacements

  • Time-Based Changes - Updates to event times, promotional dates, or seasonal information

  • Image Swaps - Replacement of images while maintaining proper formatting

  • Layout Adjustments - Minor tweaks to page layout and element positioning

  • Style Consistency - Ensuring changes maintain your brand's visual identity

Using Smart Edits

Important: You must have the WordPress plugin installed successfully on your site, and you must activate the feedback snippet on your site by inviting somebody to leave feedback via the 'Get site feedback' button on the Miruni WordPress dashboard. This will activate the feedback snippet for that user.

To use Smart Edits:

  1. Receive an edit request through the Miruni dashboard

  2. Smart Edits will automatically analyze the request and generate suggestions

  3. Review the suggestions in the Smart Edits panel by clicking 'Review' button next to the edit request in the Smart Edit column inside the Miruni WordPress plugin dashboard

  4. Review the proposed change via the Preview tab or go deeper with the 'Code Changes' tab or 'Editor' tab which will allow you to make tweaks to the suggestion before applying

    1. 'Editor' tab is shown when a content change is suggested, and is hidden when

  5. Changes are applied to your WordPress site instantly by pressing the 'Apply Change' button

When to Use Smart Edits

Smart Edits are ideal for:

  • Routine content updates

  • Quick turnaround requests

  • High-volume edit management

  • Maintaining consistency across multiple edits

  • Freeing your team for strategic creative work
